Slum Village is for the children

Slum Village graced the Essence Music Festival with their presence this year and drew praise in this overview of the event.

On Friday, Slum Village advocated for social responsibility and progressive causes; the drummer’s T-shirt read “Get Money, Teach Kids.”

In others SV news, the group was recruited for Guru’s latest in his Jazzmatazz series (Vol. 4) and are featured on the album along with other hip hop notables Common and Blackalicious.

Slum Village is scheduled to perform select dates of the Rock the Bells tour later this summer.
