Two new(er) reviews of Black Milk’s Popular Demand has surfaced.
RapReviews.com gives the album 7 out of 10 “vibes”, favoring the production more than Black Milk’s lyrics and flow.
Jeremy Carmona at The Good 5 Cent Cigar was not feelin this release, offering “Popular Demand is just another album that’s probably going to just collect dust after I listen to it for a second time. Nothing about this album gives me the desire to call up my local record store and ask for 10 more copies.”
Where Carmona loses his readers is when he attempts to give BM advice. “Hey Black Milk, let’s try and be a little bit more humble next time you decide to make an album, and try making some of your own beats. Maybe you’ll have a real crowd falling for you versus the one you created.”
Is he serious? Where does he expect humility to fit with the braggadoccio nature of hip hop? That’s like asking a journalist to add more rumors and innuendo to his articles.
RapReview’s commentary isn’t overwhelmingly positive, however a good case and reasoning is offered for the low lyrical rating. The same can’t be said for Carmona’s review.
