Kelley L. Carter has a write-up on Black Milk and “Popular Demand” in today’s Detroit Free Press.
Quote:
“I know the majority of people who do know me and are familiar with my music, they know me for producing first. So when they get a Black Milk project — I mean, I would focus on the production if I was a fan and if I’m listening to a producer-emcee. So I know that’s what they’re looking for first,” he says. “I think my beats were overshadowing my lyrics a little bit so I had to step up my rhyme game. I had to show people I’m fierce with it.
“I wanted to show people that I’m not just another producer who is trying to rap; it’s in me.”
